Chinese Readers for P3

P3 are independent, Hong Kong based publishers for finance, business, lifestyle and education.

P3 has a series of books and CDs to help primary children learn to speak and read Mandarin. They call the series Primary Mandarin. Pilot was asked to take Primary Mandarin's 144 Chinese Readers online. The intention was to give students a web based platform where they could easily work on the Readers at home, and that their teachers could easily monitor the child's activity.

Pilot has built a web based system for students, teachers and administrators. The student interface allows children to login and work through the Readers, listening, reading, recording and answering comprehension questions. Their scores and audio recordings are filed for the teacher to review.

Teachers are sent reports by email on the students progress, and they can login to review a class or student in more detail.

Administrators can import class rosters, assign blocks of readers to classes and review performance reports for classes and the school as a whole.

The Chinese Reader project has been interesting and educational for Pilot, and Pilot continues to work with P3 on enhancing the offering and functionality as they sell to schools worldwide.

The Primary Mandarin login page
The homepage where the student makes their book selection.

A page within a reader. The student can read in Chinese (or in English),
hear Chinese audio, and then record themselves...
Finally the student can answer the comprehension question. There is a question on each page of the reader, and their final score is recorded.
